[ the place ]

La Reserva is nested within 700 acres of jungle above Lake Petén Itzá in northern Guatemala, a region rich with Mayan history and biodiversity. This is rugged, remote terrain, reached only by an unpaved road that leaves signal behind. It’s this distance that makes it special: you choose La Reserva.

Our daily rhythm is shaped by the land and those who steward it. Forest work, craft workshops, cultural exchange, shared meals. Each act is part of a living whole.

[ our values ]
  • Participation over passivity

because what you do here matters.

  • Craft as culture

because making is how we remember and restore.

  • Remoteness as invitation

because arrival is earned, and therefore treasured.

  • Living systems over static sites

    because we are always evolving.

[ the vision ]

La Reserva is the beginning. The greater ambition is a 75,000-acre ecological corridor that connects Lake Petén Itzá to the Maya Biosphere Reserve. By bringing together landowners, communities, and partners, we’re piloting a new model of conservation and economy.

Your stay becomes a stake in this vision. It is proof that travel can help rewild forests, revive traditions, and restore balance.

[ our story ]

La Reserva Itzá builds on years of stewardship by Corazones en Acción, whose work helped protect this land and establish deep roots in the Petén region. What began as community outreach, conservation and education has evolved into a broader vision — a regenerative campus where craft, culture, and ecology come together.

This is a place shaped over time, and still in the making.
